Why start something you don't feel like finishing?

Alex Sokiryansky, if you're reading this..

so ive realized today of another instance where someone i had a crush on
when i was younger but never did anything about, ended up directly
affecting my tastes today.. (the first instance being Erik Schulman and
Ollie)

i randomly remembered there was this kid who was the year ahead of me who
sat behind me in my world history class in 10th grade, and i totally had a
crush on him. we had a group prject together with another kid, and he
gave me his phone number scrawled on a corner of looseleaf paper so that
we could meet up to work on it. when we did meet up, i had a lot of fun
talking to him, we got along really well. i kept that scrap for *years*.
BUT i gradually stopped talking to him, even though he was still in my
history class. he even complimented me on my green pants once. but i
would totally avoid eye contact and not even say hi. even the year after,
i would still see him in band class but again, would pretend i didnt even
know him. i dont know why. it was just one of those dumb high school
fear-and-insecurity-neuroses i guess.

so here's the kicker: he was really pale, skinny, had dark hair and
eyebrows, and played in a band.

i couldnt remember his name at first, and i mysteriously couldnt find my
two yearbooks he would have been in (jr high and hs) so i ended up looking
through a listing of 1999 parsippany hs graduates on classmates.com. i
found his name, but the sad part is, when i searched on google, there were
ZERO results.

talk about the one that got away.. the unconscious (well, conscious now)
reason why every pale, skinny,dark-haired indie rock-looking boy has
always caught my eye.

moral of the story: i gotta jump on them while i still can.
